West African regional bloc ECOWAS will lift sanctions on Niger

The West African regional bloc ECOWAS is to lift some sanctions on Niger, including border closures and a suspension of financial transactions. It's leaders say the decision is based on humanitarian considerations. Leaders of ECOWAS are meeting after three members announced they were leaving the west African regional organisation.
