Madagascar is a unique and exciting destination for travelers, but there are a few important things to keep in mind when planning your trip. First, make sure to check the visa requirements for your country of origin and ensure that you have all necessary documents before departing. Additionally, domestic travel within Madagascar can be challenging, so it's important to plan ahead and consider hiring a guide or driver to help navigate the country.

Some other useful tips to keep in mind include being prepared for varying weather conditions, bringing appropriate clothing and gear, and being mindful of local customs and etiquette. Additionally, it's important to be aware of the potential for crime and to take necessary precautions to keep yourself and your belongings safe. The city of Antananarivo video shares the experience of walking or driving around the city, as a guide to Antananarivo & Madagascar things to do. We also did Antananarivo to Antsirabe, then Antsirabe to Ranomafana, an extra night in Ranomafana, and then another day to Isalo (Ranohira). You wouldn’t want to miss Ranamafana, it was a terrific National Park.

» THE TRADITIONAL FOOD IN MADAGASCAR WATCH Best Ever Food Review Show

1. TSENA’NY TANTSAHA TALATAMATY: Rice Porridge + Chinese Noodle Soup
ADDRESS: Talatamaty City
OPEN: 3AM - 7AM (or whenever the police shut it down)

Four miles outside of Madagascar’s capital city, Antananarivo, lies Talatamaty City. Talatamaty City is home to one of the country’s largest local morning markets, Tsena’ny Tantsaha. Sellers open up shop at 3am, selling everything from produce to fabrics. And lucky for us, the market has no shortage of food to try as well.

🥣RICE PORRIDGE: Zebu (Malagasy cattle) and sausage are mixed with leaves, ginger, special Malagasy rice, porridge, and spices.

🥡CHINESE NOODLE DISH: Pasta, macaroni, potato, mayonnaise and zebu skin.
----
2. TALATA VOLON’ONDRY: Sausage + Koba
ADDRESS: Talata Volon’ondry
OPEN: Varies

Talata Volon’ondry is a village located just outside of Antananarivo. The village is known for producing sausage and Madagascar’s national snack, koba.

🥔SAUSAGE: There are typically two types of sausage being sold - zebu sausage and a halal style potato sausage. This snack is frequently accompanied by local rum.

🇲🇬KOBA: Layout banana leaf spines with banana leaves on top. Add a layer of rice flour to prevent the Koba mixture from sticking to the banana leaves. Then add the Koba mixture, a combination of crushed raw peanuts and sugar. Wrap it all up in the banana leaves and allow it to cook in a bit of water for 3 days.

Koba is beloved across Madagascar, primarily sold on the street or to people in their cars as they drive through a city. The fuel from the ingredients gives people energy and helps them stay full even when walking long distances without and source of food along the way.
💸PRICE: Sausage .14 USD/500 MGA | Koba .50 USD/1,756 MGA

Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD) is a client-centered approach that simplifies and adapts HIV services to the preferences and expectations of people living with HIV.

Teen clubs are an example of a DSD model that allow children to get the care and support they need to manage their HIV.

ICAP is working with the Eswatini Ministry of Health and other partners to advance DSD and teen clubs in Eswatini.

The reed dance in Eswatini is an annual event that is done by girls who are still virgins in honour of the king.

Umhlanga [um̩ɬaːŋɡa], or Reed Dance ceremony, is an annual Swazi event. In Eswatini, tens of thousands of unmarried and childless Swazi girls and women travel from the various chiefdoms to the Ludzidzini Royal Village to participate in the eight-day event. The young, unmarried girls were placed in female age-regiments; girls who had fallen pregnant outside wedlock had their families fined a cow.

Umhlanga was created in the 1940s Eswatini under the rule of Sobhuza II, and is an adaptation of the much older Umchwasho ceremony. The reed dance continues to be practised today in Eswatini. In South Africa, the reed dance was introduced in 1991 by Goodwill Zwelithini, the former King of the Zulus. The dance in South Africa takes place in Nongoma, a royal kraal of the Zulu king.

The reed dance videos were once classified as age-restricted content by YouTube, which angered the users who had uploaded them. This included Lazi Dlamini, the head of TV Yabantu, an online video production company that aims to produce content that “protects, preserves and restores African values”. Working with more than 200 cultural groupings across the country and in neighbouring Eswatini, Dlamini organised a series of protests against Google to force them to rethink their position. YouTube apologized, and allowed the showing of bonafide African traditional videos. According to a representative for the company, they lifted the restriction, as it is not Google's policy to "restrict nudity in such instances where it is culturally or traditionally appropriate

We ask you, humbly, to help.
Hi reader in the Netherlands, it seems you use Wikipedia a lot; that's great! It's a little awkward to ask, but this Friday we need your help. We’re not salespeople. We’re librarians, archivists, and information junkies. We depend on donations averaging €10, but fewer than 1% of readers give. If you donate just €2, the price of your coffee this Friday, Wikipedia could keep thriving. Thank you.

History[edit]
The town grew after the nation's administrative centre moved from Bremersdorp (now called Manzini) in 1902. It derives its name from a Chief, Mbabane Kunene, who lived in the area when British settlers arrived.
Economy[edit]
Mbabane's closest border crossing to South Africa is Ngwenya-Oshoek, and though Swazi is the primary language, English is widespread. Mbabane, and Swaziland itself, depend on tourism and sugar exports. It is also a commercial hub for the surrounding region, while tin and iron were mined nearby. The city has two sites for light industries.
Education and culture[edit]
Mbabane is the home of the Waterford-Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa, as well as one of the three campuses of the University of Swaziland. Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is a private international university that lies by the South African-Swaziland border with several university candidates from Swaziland. Indingilizi Gallery is an art gallery in Mbabane, established in 1982 and showcases a range of Swazi art, including sculptures, paintings, batiks, mohair, ethnic jewellery and pottery.[2]
Geography and climate[edit]
Mbabane is located in the district of Hhohho, of which it is also the capital, and lies on the Mbabane River and its tributary the Polinjane River in the Mdimba Mountains. The average elevation of the city is 1243 metres. Neighbourhoods and suburbs include Mbangweni, Sidwashini, Kent Rock, Sandla, Westridge Park, Malunge, New Checkers, Msunduza and Vukutentele.
Due to its altitude, Mbabane features a moderate subtropical highland climate (Cwb). The city has a mild climate and snow is a rare event, which has occurred only three times since 1900[3]. The city averages only four days of frost a year. The average temperature is 11 °C (52 °F) in July and 22 °C (72 °F) in January.[4]s. It lies on the MR3 road.

Swazi culture is the way of life and customs of the Swazi people through various historical stages. The culture of Swazi people involves music, food, religion, architecture, and kinship, among many other things. The Swazi people are composed of various Nguni clans who speak the Nguni language siSwati. These people mostly reside in Eswatini and South Africa. Presently, Swazi people may also include citizens of Eswatini. In Eswatini, one of the most visible features of cultural identity is the traditional political structure of the nation and the home. In the national level, the Ngwenyama is considered the head of the nation alongside the Ndlovukati who is the spiritual leader of the nation. National cultural events often involve the Ngwenyama or Ndlovukati. At home, the patriarch of the family is the head and in the past, often practiced polygamy. This headman, usually referred to as umnumzane is central to all activities of the home. A group of homes forming a community and the land they reside on forms a chiefdom or umphakatsi. Several chiefdoms form an inkhundla which then belongs of a regional division of the country. This connects the older traditional leadership structures to more modern forms of government.

The global tourism industry is taking an unprecedented knock because of the Covid-19 outbreak. The World Travel and Tourism Council says 50-million people globally could lose their jobs because of the virus. Our neighbours in Eswatini won't be spared. Tourism is one of the key contributors to that country's economy. Moses Vilakati, Eswatini's tourism minister, joins us from Mbabane. Courtesy #DStv403
